We look at how the space handles water first — grading at the foundation, the floor drain, any stain or efflorescence left by past seepage — and deal with it before a single stud goes up. From there the work runs in sequence: framing set off the foundation wall, insulation and vapour barrier to code, electrical and plumbing rough-ins inspected while the walls are still open, then drywall, flooring, trim and lighting. Doing that out of order is what has a homeowner opening a finished wall a year later.
